“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them, because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people, who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Apple 1990
Fear, is one of the most raw and beautiful feelings in the world. It is horrifying, your heart feels like it pops open in one moment, your body tingles with power saying “bring it on,” and your mind stops thinking and you start feeling what to do. In these moments our instincts take over and we are instantly aware of what we are capable of, even in that moment with veins pumping with adrenaline.
Fear is a response, physical or emotional, it changes the way we deal with things. This means unintentionally we will do things in order to preserve ourselves before we are hurt. We attack, sometimes even before we are attacked.
When life changes, we fall into circumstances we never planned for ourselves, we are afraid. We are forced into situations out of our comfort zone and fear takes us for a spin. We fear society, we are afraid of saying too much, speaking up and saying exactly how we feel.
We are afraid of getting hurt, and even once our guard is down we still fear a little bit each day. Fearing too much can prevent us from moving forward, but only if we let it because just enough fear, just enough belief in our values, ourselves and our thoughts can make us do things we were never even sure we considered.
I find that incredible; to fear is to care, but you cannot shy away from something just because you fear it. If something doesn’t scare you, it’s not worth it. Fear pushes out the best in us, we fight for ourselves, and we do our absolute best, more so when something is scaring us. Adrenaline is released in physical altercations. The same can be said when facing a dilemma in our lives, taking the risk has always been more worth it because even if we fail, we become stronger and we live.
We cannot experience love, life and exciting things without feeling the hurt or the disappointment, it is inevitable. We cannot live our lives in fear, doing things only because we’re afraid to do anything else. That is not living, that is moving through this world lifelessly, regretfully and miserable. Fear creates a passion, an excitement for the future and all of this is now stirred up inside of us, “To live a creative life, we must lose the fear of being wrong” , and what better way to lose fear than by standing up and facing it?
